After many months of indecision about whether to buy a medium-bore rifle chambered in 9.3 x 62mm or .375 H&H Magnum, I decided on the latter and bought a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 that was advertised for sale online by Griffin & Howe. The attached pictures were taken at the FFL/licensed California dealer where I completed the necessary background paperwork and I can take possession on September 1. The rifle weighs 10 lbs, 6 ounces empty, has a LOP of 13 5/8 inches, still has the original factory iron sights, and came with a Schmidt & Bender scope (6 x 42) and a hard case. After I take legal possession of the rifle, I'll post better photos on this thread. I plan on getting as much practice shooting this rifle and cartridge to master the technique for a rifle with this kind of recoil energy. With luck, I hope to use it on a brown bear, caribou or moose hunt someday in Alaska. Any advice or insights on shooting this rifle and cartridge would be greatly appreciated.
