Senior Member Location: Virginia | S&W Dates of Manufacture I have some S&Ws that I cannot seem to narrow the date of manufacture down any farther and don't want to send off for a letter for each, either. I figure we have enough experts around here that may have better resources available to them than just the internet and an old S&W book to help, and was hoping some of you may be more successful than I. I also have what appears to be a S&W 1860 #1 3rd Issue, but has no markings aside from a small '19' on the front of the cylinder, and stippling on the top of the barrel where the markings would normally be. The nickel finish is excellent, as are the grips. |
S&w Model 37 Serial Number Dates
I've been trying to find out the year of a S&W Model 36(no dash) 38 special, 3' barrel, blue. The serial number is 48J3XX Thanks in advance.:cheers: Couldn't find a Model 36 SN that is like yours. 1950-1969 shows 5-6 digit numbers with no letters and 1969-1983 all SN's start with J. Does show that the 36-1 started in 1967. I was looking at a S+W Model 60 this weekend. The owner does not know its age. The serial number on the butt of the gun is R1808XX. I have been trying to find info on the net regarding production dates but not much luck.
