Upgraded now it doesn't work

Can't load anything or even connect to Hoopla now Statistics book free download.

Still not working with voiceover

Download the very organized thief mac. Unfortunately the overall problem still is not fixed, but at least now the audio player peers on your screen but is not accessible at all with the voiceover.

Mostly hot flaming garbage

Audiobooks tend to work okay most of the time but eBooks are a figurative tire fire. Links don’t work, can’t search for specific sentences, crashes constantly.. list goes on.

My library subscribes to them, but only for music and videos, NO audiobooks. Anyone here familiar with their audiobook selection?

Yes, I can access them through the Houston Library. They offer audiobooks as well as music and movies/tv. I've checked out a few books. I only discovered them a month or so ago. I can check out 4 books a month but have to use their app to listen to them, which I don't like. It needs some work. I'd say they have a good selection in all genres. They don't say how many books are available.

We get 20 'movies' per month, but some are in multiple parts, with each download counting as one of the twenty. I downloaded the app to my phone, and the TV program I checked out plays okay.

I have hoopla and mine offers audiobooks, movies/tv and music as well. I get 8 downloads per month. I only downloaded one movie but never did get around to watching it but it only counted against one download. The audiobook selection looks pretty good..in the Pittsburgh, PA side of things.

The Hoopla concept is great, my library has had it for a while now: immediate access, no waiting, no hold lists. I have listened to music on my PC happily streaming.
I found the Hoopla app buggy both times I have tried listening to an audio book and gave up each time. I thought the first time it was because I hadn't downloaded the book first so carefully did that the second time. The following day when I went to listen, the download was not there so I attempted to download again while at home on my WiFi and was 'told' by the app that I had exceeded the number of times I had downloaded it.
I don't have WiFi where I listen which is on green way walks and in the car so it doesn't work for me, if you are able to stream it, perhaps Hoopla would work ok.
The app controls are not super easy to decipher, the help text is limited and the FAQ didn't really touch on my issues, in short I found the idea great and the interface lacking.

Can anyone tell me how to download the audiobooks on the app? I have an ipod touch and the website says there should be a cloud to tap to download the book, but I don't see anything that looks like a cloud.

Angie, for me, one I borrow a book (which is on the top right as you look at a selection) I have to navigate back to the main menu and go to the 'borrowed' menu.
Once there, I select the title I need to download, and waaaaaaay down below the description & reviews & whatever (keep scrolling) on the bottom left is the little download cloud.
If I'm very lucky, and have ensured that I don't leave my home wifi for even a second until the download is complete, and leave the app open, I can sometimes download the book on the first or second try. :)
Then you scroll all the way back up to the top to find the play button floating over the book cover image.
(I find Hoopla pretty buggy in terms of downloading - I get those 'you downloaded too many times' messages frequently - and I don't like that there's no sections to the file, and no easy way to navigate within a file. But occasionally they have something I want & can't find free elsewhere, so I haven't chucked it entirely.)
Good luck!

Thank you. I didn't even notice you could scroll down. I haven't used the app much. It worked after a few tries. We'll see if I have any trouble with it.

How To Download Books From Hoopla To Itunes

My library just announced that as of October 1st, they're dropping OneClick in favor of adding Hoopla audiobooks.

John, I think you're in my area, and I received the same notice from pcls that they're dropping OneClick for Hoopla. Pcls is reciprocal with kcls, I borrow digital items from both, and kcls (as far as I can tell) is keeping OneClick. So you may want to investigate your options in that regard.

Unfortunately, as a Seattle city resident, KCLS does not allow us full reciprocal access to downloadable material.

Ugh, I downloaded the book I'm currently borrowing and had listened to maybe 20-30 minutes of it. I took my ipod with me yesterday, out of WiFi range, and started to listen. It started over at the beginning, and it is not easy to find your place again. I hope they are working on their app. It seriously needs work.

I had that problem with a Hoopla video once. I take it there's no way to set your own bookmark in a book?

Hoopla's app and website look better than oneclick's, but I don't like that you cannot transfer files to a mobile device - it must be played through their app. I have a phablet phone and really prefer listening on a tiny device, especially when exercising while listening. The app also only lets you speed up to 1.5X, which I'm sure works for most people, but I tend to listen at higher speeds with my Smartaudio and Audible book apps.

I listen at faster speeds, too, and I will say to Hoopla's credit that their 1.5x feels more like an Audible 2x speed.
John, you CAN set a Hoopla bookmark, but it's a multi-step process, not intuitive, and the main problem I have with Hoopla's usability (besides the 'did I download this before it timed out? will it go away when I'm out of wifi?' stuff) is that when you've got an 18 hour book as one giant file with no chapter breaks or other divides, no 'part 1', it's REALLY tough to move the slider bar just a tiny amount to the right or left, if I, say, fall asleep with the sleep timer on and want to go back five minutes to see what I missed. So I end up setting bookmarks every three or four minutes out of paranoia that I'm going to need to access them later.

Agreed! I usually listen at 2x and definitely notice a big difference.
Worse, the iOS app randomly stops playing my audiobook every few minutes at some times, although it can go for an hour or more without stopping at others. And it's not just a matter of hitting start again, I usually have to close the app and restart. VERY annoying. Supposedly the last update was supposed to fix this, but for me it definitely has not.
I am very glad my library has other options, although Hoopla does have a pretty good selection for a new service. If they can fix the bugs and add 2x speed, that would help a lot!

Books On Hoopla

I really want Hoopla to be better than it is; if I could count on it to not stop on me and say I have exceeded my download limit (and never even got it to play once out of WiFi) I guess each time it timed out counted as accessing it. I would choose it for these features: Availability on release date and no more 'the library only has two copies and eight before you on the hold list' or worse.

Ugh! Although I'm not a huge fan of One-click, I would *hate* having to be tethered to a laptop/tablet/phone to listen. The ability to transfer to my tiny little mp3 player is invaluable to me.
